Supplements and Alternative Medicine
There are a plethora of supplements that can ease chronic pain. If you wish to consult with Dr. Watkins, give us a call. We would love to review these options with you.
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a fascinating, and old concept in managing pain. This method is used most effectively when dealing with chronic pain and chronic injuries. In a nutshell this method recreates inflammation, bringing blood and healing to the tissues. Prices start at $150 for a session, and usually one session can do a substantial amount of healing.
PRP Injections
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is similar to prolotherapy in many ways, the way it is gone about is a little bit different however. Dr. Watkins would have his nurse draw your blood and spin it down to its individual elements. Then the plasma, which is rich in proteins and growth factors is decanted (removed) and that is injected into the painful tissues. PRP can be used for many other things, but this is what Dr. Watkins and TruHealth use it for. Due to the price, this is usually reserved until after Prolotherapy has been tried.
Shockwave Therapy
In essence, shockwave therapy increases blood flow and breaks down scar tissue. This tech has been around for decades and is still used for erectile dysfunction and to destroy kidney stones. It uses a pneumatic device to deliver deeply penetrating waves into the tissue, thereby aiding the body in its own healing. Of the many uses for this technology, it can heal injured joints, tendons, and ligaments.
BoTox
Last but not least is Botulinum Toxin (BoTox). BoTox is one option with excellent benefits, but only for certain pain conditions. BoTox is a toxin created by an organism that results in complete relaxation of the muscles it affects. Often the cause of chronic pain is partially (if not mostly) the result of muscle spasms. These spasms cause inflammation and other somatic or autonomic responses, which in turn causes more muscle spasms. If one can break the cycle for a few weeks, often the pain will dissipate entirely. The toxin that is injected is extremely dangerous, but when injected properly by a trained professional, this can provide such a substantial relief of pain.
Free yourself from that pain.
